Kallie, right now I don't know the answer to that.  Clean Break was produced for RTE, they've not released info if they are going to transmit it on any other non-Irish channels.  God I hope so! More exposure is good exposure. I know they do have an On-Demand streaming on their website which will likely be the only way for me (in America) to see it.

Rest assured, any and all info available as transmission date gets nearer will be shared on the Forum.  We're spies! wink

What whimsy said.
Just to add that other shows only airing on RTE have definitely been released on DVD, for exampe 'Love/Hate', starring actors who will also be appearing in 'Clean Break'.

I think you need an Irish itunes account.  If you have one, then you can watch anywhere...  Hopefully it might be shown on a channel in the UK too though??  Fingers crossed!  I'm so close to Ireland, alternatively I could just swim over? biggrinbiggrinbiggrin  (Would not want to swim that water!!!)

Also, I saw series 1 of Love/Hate on the telly here so things definitely are shown.  Although I see there are a lot more series' of it than one.  I had wondered why I hadn't seen it return...  Maybe it has and I just missed it?

This is going to be great because Damien is in it so they would be foolish not to show it more widely!!

Also likelyhood of TV appearances on Irish talk shows should be high me thinks! biggrin

Thanks for posting the link for the RTE player app littleimpulse. I've found it only shows the basic, then there is a £6.99 monthly prescription. Fingers crossed Clean Break is accessible, as it airs!

According to the Irish Independent, Clean Break is expected to air over Christmas. The article also states that the lead roles go to Sean Byrne and Cillian Tobin - who have not been mentioned up to this point.

Roche’s new four part drama to be set in Wexford

A new drama written by Wexford writer Billy Roche started filming in the county this week.

With a working title of Clean Break the new four part drama will be set in Wexford and tells the tale of a community driven by love, greed, status and revenge.

Two Wexford students from the Corish Wallace Performing Arts School have also been cast in the drama.

Sean Byrne will play the part of lead role ‘Keith' and Cillian Tobin will play the part of ‘Derek’, Keith’s older brother.

Produced for RTÉ by Octagon Films and 152 Productions the drama will be directed by Gillies MacKinnon and Damien O’Donnell.

The cast includes Adam Fergus (Frank Mallon), Aidan McArdle (Desmond Rane), Simone Kirby (Annette Rane), Damien Molony (Danny Quinn), Kelly Thornton (Corrina Mallon) and Ned Dennehy (Noel Blake)

It is expected that the drama will be broadcast during the Christmas season.

So....do we think that means that we should expect Clean Break to be broadcast this Christmas?

Your guess is as good as mine fifi, but as posted by whimsy earlier, Adam Fergus said Clean Break is due in October, which sounds quite specific!

Hmm...yes, that does sound quite specific.  I knew October had been mentioned but I was just thinking about the use of the phrase "during the Christmas season" - not just the end of the year.  Made me wonder whether there might be a reason for saying Christmas.....

But yeah - I'm just musing out loud (or online) really..... and I guess that if it was in any way seasonal then Adam Fergus should know!! So fingers crossed for October!!

I'm no expert on the TV definition of seasons but I'd have thought October was more of an Autumn / Fall thing than Christmas!

Either way... this isn't coming soon enough!!!!!!!!!! action

I never really thought about television scheduling until I started following Damien's career. The uncertainty annoys me, and the rest of us, I suppose. I wonder if it annoys the people involved in these tv and film projects?

Imagine joining a cast and crew, pouring your heart into a role, focusing your best efforts, setting aside your life to go on location. Imagine this immersive experience, where friendships are built behind the scenes, where small impositions are set aside for the sake of creating something everyone can be proud of. Imagine a community of artists coming together and then, suddenly, it's over. The community disbands, the work is done, the person you lived in is hung in the closet like a shirt you have no place to wear. You move on, to another role, another location, another community of artists.

It's all so transient. So much dedication poured into something you ultimately have no control over. And by the time it reaches an audience, your work may have been turned into something you no longer fully recognize.

It seems to me that acting in a production like this is, more than anything, an act of faith. A form of trust. You create and walk away. That takes strength of character.

Well said TJ totally agree... I can be patient and wait as we have so much info these days we know when it was filmed etc and post production can't REALLY take that amount of time can it, but we never knew how long it took before, and so many things can be changed to enhance any or everything... Guess if lines need to be read due to planes flying over or missed hiccup etc folk need to be recalled... Then sponsors given correct credit... As I say don't mind waiting, just want to know when time comes I will see it... 😜

Beautifully said!

I recently rewatched the rap video Philip John shared, and was thinking about friendships made while filming a project. (or doing a stage run).  Acting IS such a transient thing, which in part I'm sure is a thrill - new projects, new people, new locations.  But bittersweet when it ends.  The emotional investment in immersing yourself in a character, of being at the mercy of directorial, production, distribution whims, of forming attachments that will likely fade once the project is over  - you have to have a tough skin to purposely put yourself through that.

Whimsy - YES! I agree with you. A tough skin over a tender heart. Actors give themselves away in pieces...

What's Clean Break about? Did we ever find out?

Potential good news for International fans - I am able to access RTE's iPlayer (Live and On-Demand) no problem from the U.S.

DAMIEN MOLONY IN 'CLEAN BREAK' - News & Discussion
Permalink

It is all kicking off with 'Clean Break' today, as RTÉ One launch their new season schedule!

So far we have new images, a new trailer and we also have confirmation that it will air on Sunday nights post watershed, in the Autumn.

We also have a more detailed new synopsis:

Clean Break is a universal tale of community, love and greed. The drama is set around Frank, a car dealer running out of fiscal rope, who catapults himself into serious trouble with the botched tiger kidnapping the local bank manager’s family, the repercussions of which will rock his hometown and all the people around him.

and Damien is at the RTÉ TV launch in Dublin today...

...Apparently wearing cerise socks!
