Damo needs to check the definition of the word cheeky. None of the 10ks I've ever run came anywhere close to being described as cheeky!

Damien must be super fit! Wonder if he'll be doing the Royal Parks Foundation half marathon in October?

Photos of the event are coming soon, I'll be using forum funds to purchase any that include Damien (the website is clear that photos need to be licensed to be used) to share here and the fansite.

I used to run, wonder what distance is Damiens perferred... Cross country running is brilliant.... Especially in the rain... Damien calling it 'cheeky' makes me think longer distances shouldn't be a problem...

Ha ha, just woke up and decided to run a mere 6.1 miles, as you do...

Me too whimsy, it's a true commitment to fitness to run that far in this weather!

It really does look wet and miserable there ! I guess running when it's a bit cooler is more pleasant !

I used to love running in the rain, don't overheat, don't need as much fluid and when soaked, can't get wetter, but hypothermia is possible (trust me ). Would've thought Damien would be passing folk running on grass though...

On second look good arm position, leg stride and foot placement... Running is something i had a passion for...

The rain is annoying as it gets in your eyes, but otherwise feels good when you're running.  It wasn't super cold today right, just wet.  Gotta say, he looks fantastic in those miserable conditions.  That second photo especially would make a great inspirational poster.

that's my problem now too Loved it, went on running training weekends, favourite race was Hell Down South, longest run was Thames Tow Path Ultra 50 miles, but greatest challenge was High Peak Challenge (40 miles in the Peak District) can't help but feel envious but also admiration when I see runners now and can't help but ponder about running stance and style... So much is involved if you get into it... Almost feel like I could go for a run now but would need "belly support"...

As much as I admire him for it, I never cared for running. Only recently I've sporradically gone for evening walks and jog a bit, and sometimes I feel like yeah maybe this is something I can take up. But the next day I get lazy again. Lol

Hello all!

Congratulations to Damien, i'm seriously impressed and i noticed that his lap times improved. It takes me back to when he did the triathlon event was it three years ago now? I must admit i have huge admiration for those who can and do. I'm not one of them, walking is about my speed i have to admit but back in the mists of time, when my husband was a lad, he used to do cross country for his county (as a schoolboy).

I was encouraged by a friend to start... i found it very interesting ( all the fine details... diet/nutrition as well as gear and physical challenges/training). But think to be a commited runner you have to have drive, gut determination, positivity and 'not giving up' iattitude... i always finished what i started, but always in the back 25%, and ended up with hypothermia twice (once really bad)... Thinking maybe should start a hobbies and interests thread if there isn't one already... i'm getting quite enthusiatic about my love of running now....

Hi Lisa, great to see you
Damien did the Triathlon in 2013, just realised I added that to the fansite article but not here. Will do now.

Wow Kallie you've run 40 / 50 miles?!?

I did! Have a running folder with everything I've competed in.... Forgot my peak was in 2008, but inspired to buy some photos tonight of me in their archive... Its something I was/am proud off and a perfect boost....

Photos of me completing in Hell Down South and yes, I am wearing shorts (itched for over two weeks)

(Actually wading across a river before climbing up the bank opposite grasping at roots to get up the bank, post wading through gloppy mud up to my waist  before hand, the event is in military grounds.... And a couple did it my year on the day after their wedding in wedding dress etc.... )

Not at all... My average 10k time was 65 minutes... So Damien is miles better that way... Damien's possibly always ran and not given up... Looks like he looks after himself now and as far back as we can see pictures and sure has more grit and determination than me... I only did both those distances once, and High Peak 40 was something extremely proud of and would never have done the navigation without my friend who got me into running stayed with me... She fell (and sure fractured knee cap) but stayed with me as sure I would get lost... She's a proper ultra runner, won the HP challenge previously, taken part in competitions where people run round a track for 24 hours... She's hard core, and extremely good... And did take us 13 hours to do... So Damien has achieved a very impressive result, and sure could be improved in better weather and not having to go round folk
