If you have not yet seen the finale of Being Human series 4 what planet are you on and SPOILER ALERT!

This was a tough question for me to decide on the correct answer for the HAL QUIZ and it also came up in our finale HAL CHAT.

I believe it was Annie and not just from the explosion.

The pawn shop. Hal fully intended to go back to his bad old ways now that Pearl and Leo were gone. He went there with a purpose in his mind and that was to spill blood and keep spilling blood until he was sated. I firmly believe that Annie pulled him back from the brink of catastrophe with her speech about pain and grief.

Then there was the physical act of saving him, at Stokers, by reminding Alex that Hal wasn't a living thing. The fact that she considered Hal's safety speaks volumes, he's an Old One, they've had their ups and downs at HH and she reminded Alex that he wasn't a living thing/being and he was saved, again.

I honestly think Annie saved Hal ... okay so Alex and Annie both play a part in it. If Annie didn't say what she said to Alex what was it again? "Hals not a living thing" Alex mostlikley would of just stood there like a plumb. And Hal would of died. But then again. If Alex wasent there. Hal might of died any way. But i have my theory that Annie would of snapped Hal out of it and let him excape before blowing up the old ones. But .... eather way ... every one has there own view :) Xx

it is a real mind bender isn't it Kayla! I don't think there is a right or wrong answer! would Alex have thought to save Hal if Annie had not told her to do it (twice!) and noone in that moment really knew of Annie's plan except her! but then Annie would not have been able to do it herself..so maybe it was both?

And either way, grateful........ really did not know if we were going to lose Hal at the end of series 4..the relief was immense!!

Well what i think actually happened, was that Mr Snow was actually an alien seeking to destroy earth. And Annie had secretly been the Doctor's companion before she met Owen, so her and the doctor had been working on a plan to kill Mr snow for quite awhile. So it was actually the Doctor who saved Hal, because he told Annie in alittle ear piece she was wearing that Hal would be able to rentaghost with Alex.

Just kidding!!!! (You did say any crazy theory lol!)

No, i really think that it was Annie who saved Hal. In more ways than just saving his life in the last episode. From the moment he stepped in the doors of HH, she started saving him by helping him to become a better person. It was Alex who actually did the saving, but i don't think she ever would have thought of it if it wasn't for Annie.

HAHA! Liking this theory a lot Sami!!! LOL!

How very true Lisa and Sami, wow thank you for pointing that out, Annie helped Hal in so many ways..that was such a powerful scene and pivotal moment for Hal Lisa..... so you are right, she had in fact already saved him. and for that reason it seems even more right to say that it was she who saved Hal's life ultimately in the explosion.

Perhaps, literally speaking, it was both Annie and Alex (because neither one nor the other on their own would have done so)? :flaming:

Seems Annie is winning by far. I agree with what others already said. Annie saved Hal in more ways then that last one, but we are only discussing the explosion at Stoker's are we?

So in that case: Again it wa Annie. She told Alex to get Hal out of there, it doesn't matter what would have been if Alex hadn't been there. Annie decided Hal was worth saving and acted accordingly :) Alex was just the way she chose to do it.

Agreed 0po. With 90% of the vote, Annie clearly seems to be Hal's saviour in teh opnion of our members,.

I am surprised how literal and unphilosophical I am being about this but technically the act of saving Hal from the explosion was Alex, so maybe we need a 'both' category!

This will make me unpopular to be sure, but I think Alex saved Hal. Yes granted Annie told her too and looked after Hal after Leo and Pearl passed, but I tell my kids do do stuff all the time and when they finally do it it is them doing it not me!!!! Alex was the one who saved his life when the explosion happenend. :D xxx

your argument is valid, HalGal I can see both the literal and less literal points of view but you are correct in terms of the actual action / verb 'to save'!
