Addicted to this fic Lisa, love the way you are ramping up the tension in this chapter... And building up the emotion around the backstory. I was very moved reading this one, thanks for sharing with us again

Chapter Nineteen is live. The theme is loyalty. And when i said that Hal was going to be really bad, he is, but as i wrote it, another idea occurred to me and also in turn solved a problem brewing with another character. I hope that you enjoy it, i certainly enjoyed writing it.

oohh.. very happy to see you have another chapter up Lisa, something to look forward to all day as my bedtime reading tonight! thank you for sharing

I tend to re read the previous chapter before as well, not sure if i told you that already. when you have finished i may print the whole thing out because i cannot wait to read it all in one go - and this would make an exceptional fanfic novella! (or novel depending how big you go!)

Lisa, sorry if I have said this before but your take on the back story is so natural and feels so right that it almost doesn't feel like its yours, I do not mean that in a disrespectful way, I mean it is so aligned with Being Human and Hal as a character that without me knowing it you are unfolding my own perception of Hal's past - it feels so right that it is as if we already knew it. perfect. gripping and moving in equal measure. thank you for that, there were big hal shaped holes that hurt after being human ended, you are filling them and it feels, right. hug

yes very, we should encourage this sort of behaviour more often approved

(stimulating the imagination and being inspired by creativity is more educational and useful, in my view)

Chapter Twenty Three is now live.

The site has been experiencing problems all day so apologies if you get a 503 error when clicking the link.

This chapter is the final 'Human Hal' flashback chapter and it's a long one, at 5k. I'm also a little bit nervous about this one because in the process of writing it, I had a bit of an idea, a lightbulb moment really, and my beta really liked the idea too when i talked it over with her. This is what emerged. I won't spoil it but i'd really like to hear what you think of it when you do read it. It may work, it may backfire spectacularly. As always, the idea behind it is rooted in the show's canon and that is all i will say apart from I hope that you like it :)

Hi Domino, I always appreciate whatever it is that you have to say about 'Numb', mostly that you're still enjoying it. Responses such as yours keep me going with it. Right now it feels like the fic that will never end, i've been writing it for a year now, the longest i've ever taken to write a fic.

Hi Lisa! I'm playing catchup with fanfics right now and I am so glad you are still going with 'Numb'! Going to read chapters 25, 26 and 27 tonight So sorry I have not done this sooner, but there is something more delicious about reading a few chapters all together.

The long gap between updates has been down to writer's block (grrr) and pesky eye problems (sorted, kind of) so i hope you enjoy it. You're very sweet Jozie, thank you. Make yourself comfortable because it's a long one. My Hal fics were predominantly one shots until i got the idea for this one and it turns out it is the longest of my Being Human fan fics (to date)
