As I've mentioned on the forum a few times, Sherlock is possibly my next favourite TV show to Being Human.

If you have never seen it before and you are in the uk, BBC three are showing series 1 from  Friday 17 May at 9pm.

Series 3 is currently being filmed, please feel free to post any filming news here!

I agree - Sherlock is brilliant.

Had a day off yesterday, and when I discovered that they were filming in Bristol, I was sooo tempted......

I've been following the Radio Times Sherlock Series 3 Filming Diary, but it seems to have come to an abrupt halt at the end of April..so you need to carry on where they left off....

Sherlock is a brilliant programme and a great demonstration of how intelligent British drama can be.

Benedict and Martin make a great double act and it's clear that they have a great relationship.

The best bits, for me, are the monologues as Sherlock goes through all the clues to make his conclusions.

I absolutely love Sherlock! It's one of my all-time favourite tv shows.
It's a brilliant series with an amazing cast and excellent scriptwriting.
I fell in love with Benedict the first time I saw him in it...Looks like I have a weakness for brilliant and talented actors.
I really can't wait for Series 3!

Liked the first season, then suddenly fell in love with it, and Ben and Martin, when the second series kicked off.

I suppose Christmas might be the expected broadcast date?

Agree with you Kat, like Being Human, Sherlock is the perfect synergy of fantastic writing and great casting, and it also has that quintessential unnamable genius about it that is greater than the sum of the parts.

Not sure about release date UJ, oes anyone know?

Imdb gives September as the air dates for the three eps of series 3, but that seems rather early and possibly based on the original filming date of Jan 2013, before it was delayed.

We have names for the first 2 episodes: 'The Empty Hearse' and 'The Sign Of Three'.

I cannot wait to find out what happened at the end of series 2...if anyone has any theories please feel free to share them (but maybe under the spoiler tab, highlight the text and the 'spoiler' tab will appear in the toolbar above the posting area, only works on the 'reply' option not 'quick reply')

Sherlock panel at San Diego Comic Con 2013

(no major spoilers here but certain ambiguities are cleared up, so if you are resisting anything about the next series at all..don't watch)!

love Mark Gattis! also look how Moffat avoids the Doctor Who question!

p.s really enjoying the re-runs of series 2 on BBC One! episode 2 on BBC iplayer now.

Yeah, I've fallen completely and helplessly in love with Sherlock.  It's second only to Being Human, UK now.  Season 2 was the clincher. I actually cried like a baby at the end of Reichenbach Fall.

I've always liked Sherlock Holmes, books movies and shows.  Until now Jeremy Brett was my Sherlock Holmes.  Now it's Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, forever I think.

I'm so excited for the knew series of Sherlock to come on. I have watched so many different versions of the infamous Sherlock Holmes and no one compares to Benedict Cumberbatch.

I love this Sherlock. The style, dialogue and the actors - and it's filmed by BBC Wales and uses the same locations as Being Human, such as Tredegar House #allthingsleadtobeinghuman

totally agree with you Jane, I feel the same way. Since listening to Moffat on the SDCC panel, I am really, really intrigued about the third series!

Love listening to Mark about Sherlock. It's one of the joys of the DVD commentaries. It's nice to hear a long time fan speak of their passion. Same with Mark and horror. He has a way with him.

Thanks for posting this, domino.

Il padrino - I agree.  It somehow manages to stay faithful to the original concept of Sherlock, but at the same time is completely fresh - and it works so well.

I guess it's fair to say that Sherlock is my favourite tv programme now...it has never been disappointing!  Was interested to hear what they said about making a feature film.  The format is one of the genius things about it.  Having long episodes allows time to explore a story in detail, and it means that in the future they could easily just make single episodes (tv film style) rather than a full series without changing the format..but I hope that it stays on tv.

Absolutely! Each episode is 90 minutes long so its like a film and you get three of them each series, so thats lovely.

Hopefully the longer epidoses but shorter seasons will help them continue the show for longer.  This allows them to do movies while still doing Sherlock.  Win Win.

Don't know why, but was thoroughly underwhelmed by that trailer, except for John's quality moustache!

I hope the mustache is a short lived character.  I really hate it.  The look on Sherlock's face is heart breaking.  I can't imagine what John's face is going to look like when he sees Sherlock.  Astonishment, relief, anger all rolled into one?
