I have just watched the interviews at the end of the second disc of Series 4 and in Michael's interview the interviewer asks Michael why we should watch this series. He says, without hesitation, DAMIEN MOLONY! I think that shows how highly regarded Damien really is.

Lol, I think he is also being slightly sarcastic about Damien's popularity as well Pearl, but yes both Michael and Damien speak highly of each other, always !
