Thanks for the update Pearl! it would have been a very high profile role, and no doubt at all in my mind that Damien would make a fabulous manpanion, it's hard to imagine anyone else doing it better! But it does leaves him open for the next Big Thing! I haven't watch doctor who, but I will soon start with first season, there have been so much fuzz around this show, guess I have to know what's all the fuzz about. Still I hope Damien would have been in it;) __________________ I want to give Hal some Kia-Ora

I take this with a grain of salt. Everything I've seen points to wishful thinking, rather than rumor. Though a couple congratulatory tweets could have been referring to something "bigger" than Kill Your Friends, and Dr. Who is arguably the biggest UK show in terms of global audience/popularity. Kill Your Friends is, it seems, his first film, but globally not sure how the distribution will be, and his part seems small-ish. But The Master in Dr. Who, now that would certainly get alot of people's attention.

Anyway don't mind me, just rambling...

I really want John Simm to continue as The Master.....but if that's not to be, then I would love to see Damien in that role. I'm glad he wasn't the cast as the Doctor - and I loathed the idea of him playing Clara's boyfriend....but the Master would be excellent! __________________ ".....he'll be with you while you dream"

yes it's deffo just rumours and speculation whimsy, but i did it exciting to see Damien's name there amongst those rumours for such a big world wide show (phenomenon!) that is Doctor WHO! it is never a bad thing to see his name out there!
Sometimes i post such things in such a way for a reaction, my own opinion hasn't really come into it yet... and I am not entirely sure what it is!

Pearl - I think he specifically said vampire....and the Doctor's assistant isn't a fantasy role in the same way - they're ususally human...just in a fantasy world.

Having said that I must admit that this isn't something I'd want to see - not least because the Doctor's assistant is one of the few really strong female roles on tv. I'd not have any real objection to them being a man - but it would be a shame to lose that female character....and Dr Who would become very male orientated!

It may of course be that Danny Pink, who will be Clara's boyfriend I believe in the new series, may continue on as an assistant , sort of thing. I just find it amusing, and satisfying, that whenever a Doctor Who role comes up Damien's name gets mentioned int he social networks.
That crossed my mind too fifi... but maybe it would pave the way for a female Doctor Who! (shock horror!)
