I just can't wait to see how the dynamic between the team changes in this new series. And how Jack will react to having another sergeant around. As long as he still has his magic crime-fighting pen!

I remember Game On, fifi. Was Neil Stuke also in Silk?

The idea of Martha being the story in Suspects Series 5 is an equally exciting and a scary thought. Considering the cast list includes her children - Daisy is her daughter as mentioned in a series 3 episode 3, the one with the Shaffers and their dance studio - we can assume that she might well be. But she is not appearing, which begs the question, what happened to her..

Maybe the larger team is brought in to help with the investigation ...?

As an aside, it's exciting to see Suspects Series 5 has been added to Damien's official Spotlight CV, for 2016! More confirmation that it is indeed coming...

Truly! And loving how we've filled 7 forum pages with series 5 chat when nothing has been officially announced yet. We're proper detectives

We are very good at filling pages with imaginative speculation! If only we could use our powers for good ;)

Never underestimate the powers of fandom Rosie! Afterall, it is the audience and viewers who determine if things are recommissioned and in some cases, made.

I've been looking at the cast lists on IMDB and - just to add a bit more wild speculation - I can't help thinking that there is going to be a series long story arc for s5.  The recurrence of some of the characters makes it difficult to see it any other way.  And I agree that the inclusion of Daisy Bellamy (and Adrian Bellamy surely has to be related?!) without Martha is incredibly suggestive....

I would imagine that there are more names to be added to these cast lists (after all the series hasn't even been announced yet!) because they do seem very short.  Interesting that the only extra cast members for ep 3 so far are a SoCO and a second DCI.  And, as yet, there is no 'newsreader' listed for any eps....

I swear I've come on this thread and commented before, but my phone hasn't been letting me post on to the forum so it was probably one of those times I started a post then gave up.  Anyway...

I have to agree with the speculation that runs towards series arcs and something having happened to Martha.  With Daisy and Adrian Bellamy there, it wouldn't be a case of Martha having transferred somewhere else.  Perhaps that's why they have some new officers on cast, they've come to help with the ongoing investigation into what happened to Martha as well as the regular case loads?  I agree fifi, those cast lists are too short, so obviously we aren't getting the whole picture yet.

I've been having this feeling that this should be airing any day now.  Traditionally it would have been airing by now.  I hope they don't decide to wait till late summer, into fall again.  I'm dying to see the new dynamic and to have Damo and Lenora on screen together again!

Agree fifi, a series long arc looks possible according to the cast info so far. Very exciting!

Sorry to hear you have been having trouble posting to the forum whimsy, let me know if I can help in any way. The site should be entirely accessible on all devices, but if ever it is glitchy you could try the mobile version of the forum. Those were my thoughts on the castings too and the larger team...

Exciting mention of Suspects Series 5 by Justine Barker in an interview with The New Current

I've also just finished scoring a new series of the Channel 5 drama, Suspects. It's the most exciting season yet and I got to really develop the music which I'm very pleased with– there are some big surprises in store and I reckon viewers will be on the edge of their seats.

Most exciting season and big surprises? oooh! But also, Justine mentions having the opportunity to develop the music which is exciting and this adds to our speculation that Suspects may be changing / developing.

Also if post production is complete... will we hearing about the S5 premiere soon? let the air date guessing game begin!

Soon, please, soon!
We seem to have been waiting for series 5 forever (and still awaiting the dvd for series 3&4).

Big surprises I do like surprises!  Tho I'll be interested to see how much they can really surprise us.....I reckon our speculation is pretty far reaching..... smile

I'm feeling fairly reluctant to start air date guessing - the wait for s4 became so frustrating (although that was channel 5's fault for telling us it was going to air in the summer...and then showing that 'coming soon' trailer)  So far Suspects hasn't had a regular seasonal slot...so it could come at any time. Obviously I'm hoping that we won't have to wait until the autumn!!  If post production is completed then I'm cautiously optimistic that it'll be soon.....cautiously.....

I emailed channel 5 and asked when the next series would air.

This is their reply:

"At present we have no dates scheduled for the transmission of Series 5 of the programme. We are rightly proud of this programme and are anxious to place it at a timeslot and time of year where it will garner the biggest possible audience."

However, I should add that they claim to only give information out two weeks in advance, so we could still get to see series 5 shortly after Easter.

Hope they hurry up, the wait is killing me!

Oh well done Ellie....and thanks for sharing!

I have to say that - even if you didn't get a straight answer - its still a very positive response.  I can believe that they only give information out 2 weeks in advance because i get the impression that they swap things around right up until the tv guides are published!  I'm sure they must have some time frame in mind...but probably want to know what the competition is doing and first and don't want to be held to it...

Check this out via SKY MEDIA!

It is meant for 'commercial opportunities' and not relevant to us fans, but it does confirm:

6 X 60 minute episodes for Series 5

and this tickled me:

"Since launching in 2014, Suspects has been Channel 5’s most successful original drama with broad appeal and a loyal following. "

Ooh, good detectiving Ellie, thank you for the initiative and for sharing !

Historically Suspects has run after or around a series of CBB... but let's see! I would suggest to Channel 5 that moving Suspects as near as possible to prime time would garner the biggest possible audience, irrespective of the time of year. In my experience on DMF and the Suspects TV show pages, the 10pm slot has definitely stopped some people watching it. 9 pm would be better and it's after the watershed...

We'd already made an educated guess in that direction. I can live with it.

James Murray was on Channel 5's The Saturday Show this morning talking about Suspects.

A new clip was shown, also featuring Damien, Lenora Crichlow and Clare-Hope.

If you're in the UK and missed it, you can catch the segment on Channel  5 + 1 just after 11 am!

Also of interest, an in depth SUSPECTS interview with James Murray in the Express

in which he reveals more about his character.
