SUSPECTS: Damien Molony joined by Lenora Crichlow, James Murray and Perry Fitzpatrick for Series 5 damienmolony.org \| December 29, 2015 Jack is back for Suspects Series 5 – with a new line-up! Suspects is returning for Series 5 next year, with exciting new additions to the lead cast. Damien (DS Jack Weston) will be joined in the new series by former Being Human co-star Lenora Crichlow, appearing as DS Alisha Brooks, James Murray (Cucumber, Defiance) as DCI Daniel Drummond and Perry Fitzpatrick (This Is England) as TDC Gary Roscoe. Clare-Hope Ashitey is also returning as astute, “passionate yet level headed” DC Charlie Steele. An expanded lead cast means a larger CID team 1, including an extra Detective Sergeant and two new rankings: Trainee Detective Constable and Detective Chief Inspector. The updated Series 5 info comes via the Suspects IMDb page and Lenora Crichlow’s official agency website. Damien Molony and Lenora Crichlow reunite, as Detective Sergeants on 'Suspects' We first suspected another series of our favourite crime drama had been commissioned when Damien revealed new Suspects episodes were being filmed, sharing a behind-the-scenes photo and video of himself in Jack Weston costume earlier this year. I can't imagine Jack not being competitive! And I wonder how having a male boss would change things for Jack. Will Jack be training the new detective constable or will Alisha? If it's Alisha then would her style be different to the way Jack trained Charlie? __________________

Oh ...the possibilities for team tensions ....
The self contained nature of Suspects and not 'going home' with the detectives is its USP and what I personally love about it because it is still the most compelling and absorbing cop drama I've ever seen , which in my mind says the status quo belief about what makes a good crime drama is wrong and certainly ripe for the shake up Suspects is giving it.
But ..the exciting side effect of the format is that the 'golden nuggets', as Damo calls them, we get from within the team dynamic as they go about their daily work, become a highlight, a special insight into these characters , which are far more moorish than a feast of insights into their private lives. They always leave us wanting more, and that yearning is not a bad thing !

A larger team means more of these and greater potential for different tensions ...and more !
