No Man’s Land will be screening live in cinemas across the world!

A live performance of the play will be filmed and simultaneously broadcast with National Theatre Live 15 December. Screenings will be live in cinemas throughout the UK and Europe, and ‘as live’ elsewhere internationally, depending on time zones.

The National Theatre and NT Live Twitter pages announced the exciting news today.

A live Q & A with the Damien, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Owen Teale and director Sean Mathias will also be broadcast following the performance.

This is an impressive third National Theatre Live broadcast for Damien, who has previously appeared in NT productions Travelling Light in 2012 and more recently in The Hard Problem in 2015.

No Man’s Land is nearing the end of a UK tour, already showing in Sheffield, Newcastle, Brighton and now in Cardiff until 3 September, and reaches its final destination 7 September, when it opens at Wyndham’s Theatre in London until 17 December.

The play and Damien’s performance have received glowing reviews and we are delighted it will soon be accessible to fans across the world!

Tickets for the No Man’s Land NT Live broadcast will go on sale soon for UK and international venues. Visit the NT Live Website for more details.

This is wonderful. I have checked and it is at my local cinema. I saw The Hard Problem there. Thanks for the info, Domino.

Excellent news!  And funny to think that in such a relatively short career this'll be Damien's 3rd NT live performance......

This is awesome news, especially for all those who missed out on tickets or unable to afford / travel to see the play in the theatre. (For ultimate accessibility I wish the NT would reconsider DVD releases, but that's a whole other discussion.)

You are very welcome Pearl!

It's an amazing fact fifi!

None near me. Still debating the trip across the pond. As I said elsewhere, indecision may or may not be my problem.

The No Man's Land NT Live performance is beginning to appear in cinema listings, but tickets are not on sale yet.

It is very worthwhile keeping your eyes on your local cinema listings and maybe contacting them now to check if they will be screening it! Chances are if there have been NT Live screenings there before, this will be showing.

It's coming to Gateshead so I'm going to see it there! I'm really excited! It'll be good to compare the two performances, the first live in Newcastle, the second live streamed to Gateshead.

I haven't actually booked my ticket yet.....I'm going to ask a friend to come with me, and tbh it feels a bit too early to ask her now for a date in mid December   But I've got it in my diary!!

The NT Live tickets will probably sell as quickly as the theatre tickets, and are even more limited as it is just one night (for the live broadcast anyway.) So if you're planning on going, get in there quick!

So, play + interval + Q & A = 3 hours?

Yes, booked today! I'm delighted they're showing with Empire Cinemas, as I'm able to go to the one in Sunderland - I had intended to go to the Nue in Gateshead, but this is much better.

The tickets are a decent price - £15.50 - and I've booked early so have a really good seat. The price is excellent, less than a third of the price of a cinema ticket.

I'm taking my daughter, as a treat. Her birthday is December 22nd, so it's an early present. She's an Owen Teale fan and was upset that the play was on in Newcastle during her busy time at work.

I get the feeling, looking at the listed venues, that this could well be the one event this year that does more for his career than anything else. And he's in the trailer  biggrin biggrin biggrin

I do wonder - because the 2 sirs are well known to cinema audiences - whether this screenimg will attract people who wouldn't normally watch live theatre at the cinema.  I definitely think that the association with such big names - especially in such a small cast - is going to gain Damien a lot of recognition.

I've realised that this is being screened on my last day at work before Christmas....what an excellent start to the holidays!  I know I've already seen it (twice !) but NT live gives a totally different perspective to sitting in a theatre audience.  It puts you right in among the actors.  And I'm really looking forward to the Q&A smile

I agree fifi that the NT live screenings give a totally different perspective and are definitely worth a watch no matter how many times you've seen the play at the theatre. The screenings always seem very immersive because you get to see the actor's faces. I bet the Q & A will be fascinating!
