Love love love this interview!

So many little anecdotes and insights into his career and all the projects he has been involved with over the years - theatre, film and TV.

Lots of humour and laughs too!

The part about refusing to crawl round on the floor like a crocodile, aged 4

He talks about Suspects in the past tense, I guess we can assume there will be no more...

BUT HOW EXCITING IS THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"you have a lot of things in the pipeline haven't you, which you can't talk about"

coolbounce

It's forum policy to only discuss Damien's acting life, not his personal life, and that remains the case.

But it is lovely to hear him talk a little about his life in this Podcast.

I am so glad that he has given us the opportunity to say..

congratulations on marriage and fatherhood DaMo!

Me too Rosie! Just me or does the super top secrecy sound like maybe these / one of these projects are gonna be big? Can't wait to find out! I always think of shows like Doctor Who when stuff is totally locked down...

(and knowing that Damien has top secret things coming up makes it easier to handle him not being in the London run of King Lear!)

Loved that, nice to hear him talking about his family.
I notice he said Suspects "was" so I'm taking it that there won't be another series (cue crying).
Fingers crossed for future work - it does sound exciting that he can't talk about it!
Thank you so much for this, domino.

It's a treat isn't it Ellie, very natural, relaxed, and long! I was very happy to see it pop up in google search
Yes... it does seem like a goodbye to Suspects.
But..cannot wait to find out what is coming up next for Damien!

Oh my gosh, that was A TREAT!  I was laughing my ass off almost the entire 31 minutes.  Some of those stories are gold!

It really was great hearing all his stories.  Definitely a bit sad about Suspects being referred to in the past tense, but GIDDY to find out about all the things in the pipeline!  We’ve had quite a long DaMo void.

Hi Whimsy, great to see you
Agreed - a real treat to have such an in depth interview, and just loved how DaMo 'loved talkin'!
giddy

Some of those anecdotes were hilarious, I'm still laughing over the floor crawling crocodile, and imagining a 4 year old Damien refusing, Hal style .

We guessed it was coming with Suspects, but my god I will miss Jack Weston and the team. (RIP Suspects )

Just listened to this at last! I love how down to earth Damien is. Some of his stories are hilarious. I adore that Damien was channeling the Sheriff of Nottingham to play Hal (I never get tired of Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves). I'm never going to watch Albert Flight's milk guzzling scene in the same way again!

Glad you managed to listen Rosie. The reference to Alan Rickman was awesome! Priceless! And also quite thought provoking - I can totally see it and I'm never going to look at Hal's drama and uptightness in the same way again!

Please someone make a Damien/Hal / Alan Rickman/Sheriff of Nottingham mashup video!

Haha, that scene in Ripper Street! 30 pints of milk, when you hate milk, that is commitment to a role! Let's hope he loves lemonade...

ripperstreet2ep4-111.jpg

After a second listen and taking in a bit more, however heart wrenching it is to say good bye to Jack Weston, it was so cool to hear a little about the filming and the laughter on set.

Domino, do you know who it was interviewing Damo in this podcast? They seemed to know each other which I'm sure was why Damien seemed so relaxed and open.

I'm afraid I have no idea who is behind Lovetalkin Rosie, very mysterious!

Damien tweeted about his interview on his Twitter page!

Pssst! Molonians!

Did everyone realise the 4 smaller interviews beneath the main one are video interviews?!

Not the best screencaps in the world, but still lovely to see Damien's face in 2018!

No probs Ellie, the 30 min podcast alone is an utter treat, but the video snippets are the cherry on top!

I cannot wait to hear about the 'lots of things in the pipeline' for Damien - exciting! coolbounce

I also managed to hear the interview. how wonderful. I so like to listen to him. And it was a new view on projects, although you knew all the projects. The story of the Sheriff of Nottingham is awesome. And, in fact, I can see a little similarity.
And maybe I imagine that you can see that he did not like the milk. wink

And thank you very much for pointing out that the 4 small interviews are videos. I did not actually see that.

You're welcome Sana, glad you could view them from your country too. I Agreed, I can also see Alan Rickman's Sheriff in Hal, but hadn't thought of it before Damien mentioned it. How wonderful to still be learning things about Hal and Being Human! Yes, we now know that banana custard would not be the thing to serve Damien at a dinner party!

Enjoy Rosie! It's awesome to see Damien's face on the screen in 2018! And I think this is his first interview since 2016?

Just bumping this topic up for anyone who may not have seen / heard Damien's Lovetalkin interview yet. But also to remind myself of this:

"you have a lot of things in the pipeline haven't you, which you can't talk about"...

We know about Brassic, and GameFace 2 - both are super exciting! coolbounce

but I can't help but wonder - will Damien appear in a theatre production in 2018? It sounds like he is a super busy man!

I know this is old news....but I just love, love love this podcast!  He really does sound so very relaxed - like he's chatting with a friend - and there are so many great little nuggets.  The Sheriff of Nottingham/Hal thing is so obvious now he's said it.....and yes, domino!  I'll have to remember not to give Damien banana custard if he ever comes for dinner wink

A particularly special treat when interviews have been so thin on the ground of late!

Ooh, Black Forest Gateau - how seventies 😁 Don't forget to start with prawn cocktail and have Steak Diane for the main course. Still one of my favourite menus! That, and cheese fondue!

Mmmmmm prawn Cocktail. Not sure about Steak diane or cheese fondue.

Maybe I'd take him to a Berni Inn (if it still exsisted).
