Damien attended an event at the Irish Embassy to celebrate Bloomsday 2019 yesterday!

Who can spot him and and Roisin Conaty in this gorgeous photo, from the Irish Embassy Facebook page?!

It is not clear if Damien and Roisin performed, or were attending and enjoying what looks like a prestigious event!

But here is a photo of Damien recording Joyce poetry readings for a Poetry Please Bloomsday special in 2015

Here are 3 of his readings for that programme!

Domino, that's lovely. I'm not keen on Joyce's writing but I love his poetry!

It was great to see Damien in one of the photos from the event, the Irish Embassy tagged me on FB!
Joyce's poetry is far more accessible than his novels. I struggled with Ulysses when I did my degree and can't say I would wish to repeat it, although I truly appreciate the invention of it... and it's the novel of the modernist literary movement. Ditto to Finnegan's Wake!

Gorgeous pic. Looks like a wonderful event. I got a bit over enthusiastic when I went to Dublin and bought a copy of Ulysses and The Dubliners. I still haven't read them!

It looks wonderful doesn't it, everyone looks smart and on their best behaviour I love that Damien and Roisin were both there!
I wish you luck and patience if you decide to take the plunge with Ulysses Rosie!

When I worked in the library, a customer asked my advice. Her fourteen year old son wanted to read "Ulysses" and she wanted to say no but thought it may be better for them if she agreed. I suggested she let him read it, saying it was so boring he wouldn't read it past page six. She came in later and said he'd reached page ten then gave up. He thought she was really cool for having allowed him to read it. The only one of Joyce's books I like is " Portrait of the Artist", I love that!
