JACK CHAT | SERIES 1 EPISODE 1 | SUNDAY 30 MARCH 2014

Okay, it's not a Jack scene, but I like the scene, when Martha realised during the interview that Robbie seems to be innocent. and afterwards tells the others her thoughts

Well, we see Jack's temper come out here don't we, and well deservedly.  He'd definitely been simmering for a while.  I thought he actually did well just getting out and slamming the door, I thought for sure he'd grab Laurie and shake him a bit or something.

In these scenes we really begin to see the simmering Jack, the barely contained intensity and passion. The abuse is revealed and his intervieing begins to change.
In his interview with Fiona , Grandma, his words seem laced with accusation "excuse me Fiona" . with Laurie he begins with the quiet sarcasm about smoking.. and ends up with door slamming and shouting.

You can tell his emotions are in the right place though, especially moving when he says to Laurie,
"Ok. What worries me you see Laurie, from my point of view, is that not once, have you asked how Toby is after this"

Jane he was definitely looking child in that bag, after he noticed that she wasn't in it, he was more gentle (in a way)

Ok, the next scenes. Plot thickens, these scenes made me believe that Laurie was responsible of that child missing (and I really though that she was alive, possibly hurt but not killed). I really loved last line Jack said to Laurie :Ok. What worries me you see Laurie, from my point of view, is that not once, have you asked how Toby is after this

It made me even more sure that it was Laurie.

He did enter the interview with Laurie seething and sarcastic.  I thought he was going to blow his stack faster.

It was as if he knew immediately it was Laurie, that his earlier instincts were turing out to be correct.. atleast about this tangential tragic discovery

I never thought it was Laurie.  I thought he was guilty of child abuse/neglect but I didn't think he actually killed anyone.

agree domino. with this sentence about not asking about Tony was Jacks way to tell Laurie "you are in trouble, man!"

And in that last scene when Jack was staring at Laurie (screencap) I tought that Jack was showing bit too much his temper and feelings, but as we have watched later episodes that's how sassy Jack do.

It was definitely a showing of his emotional intelligence.

I thought it was Laurie.  And I still believed she was just missing.  Though in hindsight not sure why, since all the family members were at the station being questioned.

I love how Jack comes in and "apologizes" for the interview being in the more cramped room.  Right away you could tell he did it on purpose to shake things up.

yes nana, Laurie put lots of energy into portraying Rachel as the terrible mother.. and kept talking on and on about that, accusing her of abusing Toby... then jack said that... his way of saying, we've got you Laurie. and laurie's reaction when he was alone in the room...

oh yes that bit was good whimsy.. a psycholgical tactic to lull him into a false sense of security and from a dramtic point of view it added so much tension to the scene (wonder if Damien came up with that or if it was in the detailed plot description)

Damien said in interview that was set up from the plot.

then Jack shifts tactic

"What have you done with Hope"

"You physically and verbally abuse your son Toby, what's to say you haven't physically and verbally abused your daughter, who is now missing. Where is she Laurie"

"I don't believe a word that comes out of your mouth"

"why are you stalling Laurie, why aren't you answering any of my questions I am trying to find your daughter and you're giving me nothing, ok?"

I think I first noticed the humming mmmmm question. this irritated sarcastic question he does. "mmmm?? mmmm???     He's turned it into a Jack characteristic.  I kind of love it.  Has anyone else noticed it?

Yes Jane I have! Love it too ;) And one other thing that I love about Damien, is that he is showing so many expressions with his eyes. All the feeling are reflected from them: anger, sadness, happiness.. And he doesn't have to say a word. Always loved that feature in Damien.

I thought it came out when he was asking about the cigarettes.  Maybe not.  I watched this episode on Tuesday so it's been a while.

Yes, it's impatient but kind of peeved and sarcastic too.  It's a mixture of several emotions when he does it.
